Welcome to the Basic Unix Commands course!
iNSight is most commonly deployed on a Unix Operating System. In order for you to become a successful iNSight engineer, you must be able to navigate your way on a Unix operating system and know the basic commands to be able to perform your daily activities on Unix.
Since no one wants to sift through boring documentation and just read what each command does, we have something much more fun and interesting! Yes, you will be playing a game to learn most of the basic Unix commands that you’ll need on a daily basis. Users who are new to Unix may need a significant amount of time to complete.
User who are new to Unix may need up to 30 hours to complete the Bandit game. Although this may seem like a big ask, it is extremely important that you are comfortable using a Unix system. Please chat to your manager to discuss your availability.
Thereafter, you will need to complete our quiz to ensure you have learnt the commands you will require to complete the lessons that follow.
Unix Pros
If you are an experienced Unix user, feel free to skip the Bandit game and have a go at the Basic Unix Commands quiz. Don’t worry if you don’t manage to pass. Simply go back and brush up on your Unix skills by completing the Bandit game, before having another crack at the quiz.
